PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp socket that can hold the lamp safely in the lamp socket and the contact between each electrode of the lamp and each terminal of the lamp socket is good even when the total length of the lamp socket is shortened. SOLUTION: When the base part 4 of the lamp 3 is screwed in the opening 2a of the lamp socket 1, safety is maintained as the opening 2a of the lamp socket 1 is molded integrally by an insulating synthetic resin, and even in the state in which the total length of the lamp socket 1 is shortened, even if the screw part 5 of the lamp 3 is screwed in the shortened female thread part 6, it can hold the lamp in stable condition. And the lamp 3 that is installed in the lamp socket 1 can secure contact between the center electrode 7 and the center terminal 14, and can maintain good contact state between the end part edge of the base part 4 being a part of the periphery electrode and the periphery terminal 15 that is held by a ring-shape holding part 12.
