LINE BASED IMAGE MATCHING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image matching method based on a straight line by which retrieval of a model image with a shape descriptor similar to that of a collated image from an image data base indexed by a shape descriptor based on the straight line is retrieved. SOLUTION: The image matching method based on the straight line includes (a) a stage to obtain straight line information from the collated image and the model image, (b) a stage to define the binary relation between a straight line of the collated image and a straight line of the model image, (c) a stage to measure compatibility coefficients indicating compatibility of the node-label pairs of the collated image and the model image based on the binary relation and (d) a stage to measure similarity on the basis of continuous relaxation by using the compatibility coefficient. The retrieval of the model image with the shape descriptor similar to that of the collated image is made possible from the image data base indexed by the line based shape descriptor even without exact extraction of an object.
