An analog timepiece having a circular dial (14) along whose periphery on the face of the dial are measure scale indicia, e.g. hour and minute indicia of a time scale (S). Behind the dial is a movement mechanism (11) to drive a hand that terminates in a U-shaped hand section that straddles the periphery of the dial and is attached to said mechanism. The hand (12P, 13P) has a pointer that points as the hand is turned by the movement. The central area of the dial (Z) is a hands-free zone reserved for a decorative display, display of data appearing on an LCD screen mounted thereon, and others. |
