A system comprising clients having access to a database (21) of electronic documents (36) that each contain reference biometric data of a customer (11) and apparatus (33) for collecting sample biometric data and for generating electronic reports of collected sample registration data, and a search architecture (46) responsive to inputs at each of the clients (11) for causing a search, wherein each search comprises an accessing of the database (21), a comparison of collected biometric data of an electronic report to the reference biometric data of the electronic documents (36) and at least one of a) a causing of a transaction and b) an authorizing of a customer (11) to commit a transaction if the collected sample biometric data substantially matches the reference biometric data.
