HIGH SENSITIVITY REVERSIBLE THERMAL PAPER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high sensitivity reversible thermal paper capable of enhancing photothermal conversion efficiency without lowering visual discrimination capacity of mechanical reading capacity. SOLUTION: The high sensitivity reversible thermal paper is equipped with a reversible thermal recording layer 1a comprising an electron donating dye precursor and a reversible developer for developing and erasing the color of the electron donating dye precursor, and the heat generating protective film 5 adjacent to the reversible thermal recording layer. The heat generating protective layer 5b is a translucent coating layer containing a dye having a hue (yellow) easily discriminated from a hue (blue) at the time of color development of the reversible thermal recording layer and absorbing light to generate heat. Since heat is generated in both of the heat generating protective film 5 and a metal membrane 2a, the minimum thickness of the metal membrane can be reduced as compared with the case of independent generation of heat. As a result, the developed reversible thermal recoding layer 1a can be easily discriminated and mechanically read through the photothermal conversion layer 2.
