PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printing method in which print efficiency can be prevented from lowering even if the sheet size is different when the possibility of collapse of stacked sheets is low by performing printing continuously. SOLUTION: A print size comparing means 172 compares a first print size with a second print size and when the stacked sheets do not collapse, a print control means 173 performs second printing continuously to first printing. On the other hand, a print size comparing means compares the first print size with the second print size and, based on the comparison results, a sheet discharge control means determines a section for containing a sheet subjected to second printing thus eliminating the labor for designating a sheet stacking section one by one. When the stacked sheets does not collapse, the sheet subjected to second printing can be contained in the section containing a sheet subjected to first printing.
