PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy both high image quality and high speed recording by preparing at least two kinds of orifice optimal for ejecting ink drops from large size to small size in one print head and selecting an orifice for ejecting ink depending on an image being recorded. SOLUTION: The side shooter type recording head ejecting ink liquid drops in a direction perpendicular to a substrate arranged with heating resistor elements is provided with at least two ink ejection opening arrays each comprising a plurality of orifices where the film thickness of an orifice plate varies continuously with respect to the substrate arranged with heating resistor elements and the distance (OH distance) from the ink ejection opening plane to the substrate is constant. Each ink ejection opening array has a different OH distance.
