PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel tank repairing method which can prevent combustible fuel from leaking out of an existing fuel tank without replacing the worn- out existing fuel tank with a new one. SOLUTION: After a primer P is dried and solidified and a substrate layer 23 is formed, a protective layer forming process is carried out. In the protective layer forming process, a matrix resin material 24 composed of an unsaturated polyester resin is applied onto the entire surface of the layer 23, and before the resin material 24 is cured, a reinforcing fiber material 25 is embedded in the material 24 so as to be laid. The material 25 is formed from flexible glass fibers into a sheet-like shape. If the material 25 is embedded in the material 24, the fibers of the material 25 are impregnated with the material 24. If the material 25 is laid on the whole of a wall material 2 of an underground fuel tank and the material 24 is cured, a FRP protective layer 26 is formed on the layer 23, so that an undercoat 2d of the material 2 is covered with the layer 26.
