PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus having a first filter with a porous filter medium and a feeding device for feeding a grain refining material and capable of filtering and adding the grain refining material to a molten metal. SOLUTION: In the apparatus having a first filter 11 and a feeding device for feeding the grain refining material and capable of filtering and adding the grain refining material to the molten metal, the first filter has the porous filter medium. The efficiency of the first filter is remarkably improved by arranging the feeding device for adding the grain refining material at the rear part of the first filter in the flow direction. Insoluble impurities fed in together with the grain refining material are removed by arranging a second filter 16 at the rear part of the feeding device for feeding the grain refining material in the flow direction.
