PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cholesterol-reducing agent containing the cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae as an active ingredient, to provide a drink or food containing the cholesterol-reducing agent, and to provide a medicinal composition containing the agent. SOLUTION: This cholesterol-reducing agent contains the highly safe cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae as an active ingredient. Since the cholesterol- reducing agent has an extremely excellent cholesterol-reducing activity from blood and liver in comparison with beer yeast and bread yeast, the cholesterol- reducing agent is useful for foods or medicines for preventing or treating arteriosclerosis or other diseases caused by the accumulation of the cholesterol, or useful as a raw material therefor. |
