PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide power transmission parts in which surface damage is hard to be generated even in a high sliding condition, and an extended service life can be secured even in an atmospheric condition to be made into a high temperature, and a production method therefor. SOLUTION: The power transmission parts, e.g. of a traction drive consist of a steel containing, as alloy elements, at least by mass, 0.1 to 0.4% C, 0.3 to 3.0% Si, 0.2 to 2.0% Mn, <=0.03% P, <=0.03% S, 0.3 to <2.5% Cr, 0.1 to <2.0% Ni, <=0.050% Al, <=0.003% Ti, <=0.0015% O and <=0.025% N in the base, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The parts are obtained by subjecting the steel to quenching and tempering treatment after carburizing carbon-nitriding treatment.
