PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a doctor blade by plating the edge of the doctor blade with a desired narrow width without employing any spacer made of rubber. SOLUTION: The doctor blade can be obtained by a manufacturing method wherein a coating material consisting at least one kind of resin selected from an acrylic resin, an epoxy resin and a polyester resin is applied on a part except the edge of a steel substrate for the doctor blade so as to have the thickness of 5-200μm when the coating is dried, then, is dried at the temperature of 100 deg.C-350 deg.C to form the film of a masking resin and, thereafter, plating is applied on the edge part, which is not masked yet, with the thickness of 1-40μm.
