PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel supply apparatus of an internal combustion engine capable of reducing operating sound of a high pressure fuel pump due to the opening and closing operation of a solenoid valve in the fuel supply apparatus having a plurality of high pressure fuel pumps having the opening and closing operation of the solenoid valve in the operation. SOLUTION: Two high pressure fuel pumps 30 are respectively operated by the opening and closing control of a solenoid spill valve 35, and the delivery quantity of fuel of the pumps to a high pressure fuel pipe 17 is adjusted through the opening and closing control. An ECU 40 controls the opening and closing of the solenoid spill valve 35 of each pump 30 so that when a request fuel quantity of the internal combustion engine is small, one of the two high pressure fuel pumps 30 is stopped, whereby the operational frequency in a designated period of the whole high pressure fuel pump is decreased to lower the operational frequency of the solenoid spill valve 35 so that the operational sound of the high pressure fuel pump 30 due to the opening and closing operation is reduced. |
