PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink immersing unit capable of surely and urgently immersing a printing element 6 in an ink without again absorbing an air drawn from the element 6 to the element 6 via an air gap H and an air gap S with a simple constitution at a low cost. SOLUTION: The ink immersing unit comprises the air gap S provided from a bottom of a container at the printing element, the air gap H provided from a lower end surface of a pressing member so that the element is interposed between the gaps S and H. A pressing force is applied from above to the member to apply a compressing action to the element. Further, the force is released to apply a restoring action to the element. These two actions are repeatedly executed to make immersion of the ink in to the element possible.
