PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new controlled-release dosage form. SOLUTION: This controlled-release dosage form for a pharmaceutcally-active agent comprises a central core in which an agent is dispersed, surrounded by a diffusion-limiting sleeve. The agent is released at a zero-order or an approximately linear rate because the release rate of the agent will entirely be governed by erosion from exposed core surfaces; the surface area of which does not change substantially during the release process. The product may be made by coextruding the core and sleeve material and slicing the extrudate.
