The present invention comprises a system and method for a control system which allows for autonomous, manual and tele-operation of underground mining vehicles. The control system is retrofitted to existing mining vehicles and has a robust system design to withstand the harsh environment of underground mines. A tele-operator, in a remote tele- operator station, uses video screens, joysticks and foot pedals to remotely control the mining vehicle. The control system also has important safety features such as supervising its operation for operational errors and providing status, warning and error information to the tele-operator station . The control system also allows for remote software updates and maintenance support. |
