PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas treatment method and an exhaust gas treatment apparatus capable of detoxicating and removing particulate-type polluting substances such as unburned carbon by combustion and decreasing the concentration of the gaseous polluting substances such as nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas treatment method comprises steps of supplying an exhaust gas into a hollow member, generating plasma in the exhaust gas by a plasma generation means 5 installed in the hollow member, and heating the plasma-treated exhaust gas by a resistance heating means 6 installed in the downstream side of the plasma generation means 5 and the exhaust gas treatment apparatus is used for the treatment.
