PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a probe capable of inserting a transmission/reception surface between the ribs and also picking-up an ultrasonic image with high resolution in the ultrasonic diagnosis of internal organs in the chest. SOLUTION: Ultrasonic wave is transmitted from a plurality of ultrasonic transducers toward a subject and ultrasonic wave reflected from the subject is received by the ultrasonic transducers in the ultrasonic probe. The probe is provided with the ultrasonic transmission/reception surfaces 2a and 2b which are brought into contact with the subject and make ultrasonic waves which are transmitted or received by the ultrasonic transducers pass through.
