PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which is housed stably by erecting a cleaner body and engaging an engaging part formed at an extension pipe or a suction tool with a part to be engaged formed at the cleaner body from an upper side. SOLUTION: In this vacuum cleaner having a form to be housed by engaging the engaging part (b) formed at the extension pipe 3 or the suction tool 2 with the part to be engaged (a) formed at the cleaner body 1 from the upper side, abutting surfaces 6 and 7 are formed at two or more places of the cleaner body 1 for supporting the cleaner body 1 on a hard floor surface in the case of housing the cleaner, and a slope 13 inclined in the direction of a floor surface is formed at the contour of the cleaner body between the surface 6 separated from the tool 2 engaged with the cleaner body 1 and the surface 7 on the side of the suction tool. Thus, even when the abutting surfaces sink into the soft floor surface, engaging of the part (a) and the part (b) is maintained.
