A method for the determination of amino acid requirements in individual animals and for the determination of the metabolic availability of amino acids from food in vivo has been developed. Thus, the invention measures the availability of amino acids in foods and the requirement for an amino acid in an individual animal. Both measurements are required to properly formulate a diet for the animal.
