PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video device with a DVD playback function, a video signal output device, and a video signal output method which enable a user to spend a significant time during broadcast of a commercial. SOLUTION: When a video signal based on reception broadcast outputted from a VCR control part is selected by an output selection part 40 and is outputted to a TV device 50, a system controller 60 monitors whether a commercial exists in reception broadcast or not; and when a commercial is inserted, a video signal based on DVD outputted from a DVD control pat 30 is selected by the output selection part 40 and is outputted to the TV device 50. Hence, the user can watch a desired video to spend a significant time during the broadcasting of the commercial.
