PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scheme for taking advantage of the deterministic diffusion of a fast Fourier transform(FFT) so as to eliminate a correlative noise source such as a radio frequency interference in a receiver for increasing an effective data transmission speed between subscribers that use a common medium. SOLUTION: In an ADSL communication system 10, a multi-channel frequency domain equalizer 12 is capable of improving a sub-channel S/N ratio by removing correlative noises generated by deterministic diffusion in a receiver where correlation is introduced into a sub-channel noise vector. In this case, data sent through a channel 24 are received by an ADSL receiver containing time domain equalization(TEQ) 26 after noise 28 such as radio frequency interference is introduced. Data undergoes series/parallel conversion 30, cyclic prefix removal 32, FFT 34, multi-channel frequency domain equalization(FEQ) 12, and parallel/ series conversion 36 after the data are subjected to the TEQ 26, whereby an estimation of original data is formed.
