PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe having a wide band frequency characteristic and a high resolution. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic probe is constituted in such a way that an acoustic impedance is reduced in the center part 3 of a piezoelectric element 1 and is made to be larger toward the end parts 4 thereof and a frequency ratio band is larger in the center part 3 than in the end parts 4. Thus, the ultrasonic probe is provided with a wide band frequency characteristic and with high resolution since an ultrasonic beam is converged deep.
