PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveform recording device capable of transmitting data at a high speed through the use of even a conventional communication circuit and preventing reductions in the accuracy of the waveform data of voltage and current at an accident to be measured, a waveform data processing system, and a communication method for the waveform recording device. SOLUTION: When the waveform recording device 1 detects the accident in an electric power system, a control part 31 measures the waveform data of voltage and current at the accident in the electric power system and stores the waveform data in a storage part 24. The control part 31 converts the waveform data into the waveform data of voltage and current at twice the interval of measurement at the measurement and at half bit resolution at the measurement and transmits the converted waveform data of voltage and current to a waveform data processing device 3. In addition, a control part 47 of the waveform data processing device 3 transmits a request for the transmission of non-converted data to the waveform recording device 1 as necessary. When the control part 31 of the waveform recording device 1 receives the request for the transmission of non-converted data at a receiving part 27, it transmits the waveform data of voltage and current at the occurrence of the accident prior to the conversion stored in the storage part 24.
