PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for converting a horizontal resolution for a printer. SOLUTION: A system and method are for converting the horizontal resolution used for the printer. By utilizing a phase locked loop(PLL) circuit included in the resolution conversion system, a frequency of a clock received from an oscillator on a printed circuit board is increased when an oscillation clock is fed, and a clock is generated for drawing a sub-dot. By connecting a 1/N frequency divider to a stage next to the PLL circuit of the resolution conversion system, another clock is derived which is for drawing a normal dot and is slower than the clock used to draw a sub-dot image and forms a pair with the clock for drawing the sub-dot. Then the two clocks are fed to an image enhancement circuit to start an image processing operation for production of an output signal required for a printer engine. Since the programmable PLL circuit receiving the clocks with two frequencies conducts continuous and accurate switching, the resolution conversion system can continuously and accurately convert the horizontal resolution for use by the printer. |
