<p>A device for supplying web material, in particular nonwoven materials, used for the production of hygienic products, comprises a receiving element (3, 5) for holding a block (6) of folded web material, and a transport unit for pulling off a lane (9) of said block (6) of folded web material, wherein the transport unit comprises driving means (16) and engaging means for unfolding and transporting said lane of web material to another processing station. According to the invention, the transport unit comprises a movable head (10) for guiding a lane (9) of web material in a predetermined distance from said block (6) of folded web material to ensure substantially constant conditions during unfolding said lane (9) of web material. With respect to the inventive method for supplying web material, the head of the transport unit is moved in vertical direction, so that the vertical distance between the lane (8) to be unfolded next and the movable head (10) is substantially constant. According to the present invention, the processing of web material from a folded block can be done at high speed with a low risk of web breaks.</p> |
