PURPOSE:To enable steps to be always held horizontally and then to be advanced upward by the rotational motion of a crank as it is. by shifting the phase of a group of flat plates having a section of one step of a stairway and a gap between each flat plate as viewed from the upper surface of a step board relative to the phase of other groups engaging the gap for the crank running. CONSTITUTION:A pair of beam shafts 1', 2' are connected to cranks C, C, C, C pivotably provided respectively in the whole four corners and cranks C', C', C', C' pivoted with the phase differing 180 deg. from that of the cranks C, C, C, C to be connected to same diameter gears G, G, G, G through a chain 3 and rotated in synchronization therewith so that the prime moving force is synchronously interlocked with small diameter gears g, g, a chain S and motor M. The flat plate is shaped such that step plate part has a section of the staircase side while the bottom surface part is provided on the passage locus of joining angled shafts T, T' of the other group with cavity part by the group. The respective flat plates are moved up and down alternately while pivoted back and forth to constitute an escalator. |
