PURPOSE: A plasma display panel is provided to improve luminescence and emission efficiency and accomplish low power consumption with improved structure of MgO protection layer. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel comprises a pair of sustain electrodes, a dielectric layer, and a MgO protection layer. The MgO protection layer is partially removed between 1/4-2/4 portion of the width of the sustain electrode from the inner boundary of the pair of the sustain electrodes to directly expose the dielectric layer to discharge space. Because cathode electrode discharge spreading significantly depends on secondary electron emission due to collision of ion and the MgO protection layer, the removal of the MgO protection layer reduces cathode electrode discharge spreading. In spite of the removal of the MgO protection layer, anode electrode discharge spreading does not changed. The cathode electrode discharge spreading is stopped at the removed portion of the MgO protection layer, and then discharge path in the removed portion is lengthened. |
