A housing (46) of a motor generator (M) is integrally coupled to an end of an internal combustion engine (E). The internal combustion engine (E) includes an oil pan (22) and a cylinder block (24) which have arcuate stiffener ribs (47A, 47B, 51) and radial stiffener ribs (49A1, 49A2, 49B1, 49B2) on end surfaces thereof for increased mechanical strength of the internal combustion engine (E). The motor generator (M) has a housing (46) that is directly coupled to the internal combustion engine (E) with a relatively small number of parts.
