<p>This invention provides a base fabric for an air bag comprising an AJL woven fabric formed of a polyamide fiber, having a single filament size of 0.5 to 4.5 dtex and a yarn size of 67 to 250 dtex for its warp and weft and the polyamide fiber containing 1 to 200 ppm of a copper compound calculated as copper, the woven fabric having a product of a yarn size of the fiber and a weave density of not greater than 20,000, at least 0,8 wt% of an oiling agent imparted thereon, Metsuke of 250 g/m<2> and a thickness of not greater than 0.30 mm. This base fabric comprises a woven fabric having a surface coarseness (SMD) of 1 to 7 mu m in KES measurement, a mean deviation (MMD) of a coefficient of friction of 0.01 to 0.04, a mean bending rigidity (B) of 0.5 to 5 mN.cm<2> and bending recovery of 0.5 to 5 mN.cm/cm in a mean bending hysteresis width (2HB). The woven fabric makes it possible to produce a lightweight air bag that can be compactly folded but hard to unfold or revert with repulsion, to a loosely folded state and that can smoothly deploy at the time of inflation. Tear strength of the base fabric hardly deteriorates after an FMVSS accelerated heat resistance test and the fabric passes an FMVSS flame resistance test. <IMAGE></p> |
