<p>A percussive dental extractor (10) includes a body (12) having a longitudinal chamber (26), a hook member (22) attached to the distal end, and an anvil (40) mounted in the chamber. A piston (38) is reciprocally mounted in the chamber for movement into engagement with the anvil. A driving device drives the piston into engagement with the anvil, and is coupled at the proximal end of the body to a source of pneumatic pressure. A trigger device (50) for connecting the source of pressure to the distal end of the chamber includes an actuator (52) to connect the pneumatic source to the distal end of the chamber. The driving device includes a hollow shaft (34) which extends from the proximal end to the distal end of the chamber with an air outlet (36) at a distal end. The piston is mounted for movement about the shaft. A return device includes a compression spring (46) located about the shaft.</p> |
