A reactor comprises an element (11,12) with at least two functional units (20,30) with a canal structure through which a medium flows. The canals (21) in the first unit extend longitudinally and have a number of connection points (22) with the canals (31) of the second unit, so the medium can be exchanged. The canals of the first unit are divided into two sections, and the units are arranged over two layers.
