PURPOSE: A binding device containing a runner cover having a press-protection rod on the outside of a runner of an umbrella is provided which enables everyone to easily perform a binding operation when an umbrella is opened and closed. CONSTITUTION: The umbrella comprises: a runner(4) comprising a runner head having an intermediate spoke inserting groove(20), an elastic protrusion coupling groove at a central part and a fixing groove at a lower part; a runner cover(5) comprising a runner head cover(10), a press protecting rod(11) disposed at the upper part corresponding to the elastic protrusion coupling groove arranged on the runner and a fixing protrusion, wherein the runner head cover of the runner cover is inserted into the runner head of the runner from the lower part to the upper part and then fixed, and the fixing protrusion is inserted into the fixing groove. By the press of the press protecting rod, an elastic protrusion(2,3) is controlled and the runner is moved on an umbrella rod(1).
