PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially and easily grasp the deformation state of an article by obtaining the amount of shift of each node of a regression lien (plane, circle, spherical surface) calculated according to the least squares method, and evaluating the deformation degree from the sum of absolute values of maximum values on±sides. SOLUTION: A node is extracted from an image information of an article stored in an image information memory means 15 according to a condition input through an extraction condition input means 25. The node is sent to a calculating means 22 for a regression plane, etc., and a deformation degree-calculating means 23. The calculating means 22 obtains information on a regression plane, etc., from coordinate information on each node according to the least squares method, and sends the result to the deformation degree-calculating means 23. The deformation degree-calculating means 23 calculates a deformation degree of the object article from coordinate information on each node sent from a node-extracting means 21 and information on the regression plane, etc., sent front the calculating means 22. An evaluation output means 24 outputs and displays outside, when receiving the calculation result of the deformation degree, what it the deformation degree of the object article to print by a printer or display by a display device.
