PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine provided with an electric motor or a generator capable of making the size of a cavity formed between a magnetic generating member and a coil into a very small size and maintaining the size constant, while the magnetic generating member and the coil face each other, suppressing an increase in scale of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine E is provided with a crankshaft 5 and a bearing cap 8 for rotatably supporting the crankshaft 5. Within the crankcase 4, permanent magnets 20 to be magnetic generating materials are provided in a balance weight part W2a of a crank web W2 of the crankshaft 5, coils 21 are provided in a bearing cap main body A2 of the bearing cap 8 and generating electric motor M2 is constituted of the permanent magnets 20 and the coils 21. |
