<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a paste directly from a slurry without forming a press cake or a particulate intermediate by simultaneously and continuously introducing an aqueous suspension of a pigment and a varnish for a printing ink into a shear rate zone having a shear rate distribution and flashing the mixture. SOLUTION: An aqueous pigment dispersion desirably having a concentration of 10% or below and a varnish for a printing ink are simultaneously and continuously introduced into a shear rate zone having a shear rate distribution in which the shear rate is desirably 100-100,000/sec, the maximum value in the distribution is at most 5 times as high as the minimum value in the distribution, and the volume of the zone having the maximum value is at most 3 times as large as that of the zone having the minimum value, and the mixture is flashed. Preferably, the shear rate zone is the clearance between the inside surface of the cylindrical outer rotating body of a pair of coaxial rotating bodies (e.g. bead mill) at least either of which rotates at an arbitrary speed and the outside surface of its inner rotating body.</p> |
