PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stock solution cartridge which enables a cartridge mounted to a carriage to be identified as the stock solution cartridge in a recorder having a recording head loaded to the carriage. SOLUTION: The stock solution cartridge 12 (13) is replaced with an ink cartridge and loaded to the carriage 5 when the ink-jet recorder is not used for a long period of time. The recording head 9 is fixed to a lower face of the carriage 5. When the stock solution cartridge 12 (13) is loaded, the recording head 9 is prevented from clogging owing to a stock solution filled in its ink channel. A means 45 to be identified which is comprised of a substrate 47 where a storage element 46 is mounted is set to a bottom part of a cartridge body 12a (13a). Data of the storage element 46 can be read out/rewritten when the stock solution cartridge is fitted. An ID for identifying the stock solution cartridge and management information on a quantity of the stock solution are stored in the storage element 46.
