PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recorder in which an image can be recorded while reducing seam streaks on any type of recording medium set at the time of printing and for any number of print passes and in which print speed can be enhanced by not performing decimation for correcting unnecessary seam streaks. SOLUTION: Information of recording method added to print data is acquired (S42) and a decision is made whether decimation is performed or not based on that information (S43, S44). Consequently, inter-band data correction (S45) can be performed by decimation depending on the type of recording medium or the number of print pass as the information of recording method and decimation can be performed appropriately depending on the type of recording medium. When decimation is not performed, a series of associated processing steps can be eliminated and print speed can be prevented from lowering.
