PURPOSE: An operator interface system for network management is provided to efficiently and visually operate the management of a network by using a unified interface based on the Java and the CORBA(Common ORB ARCHITECTURE) techniques. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises many clients(10a - 10n), a web server(20), a CORBA middleware(30), many management information base servers(40n), and many networks(50a,50b,50c). The clients define a network management area platform independent interface for the access and operation of network management information based on a web and an application. The clients monitor the state of a network by using the user interface programs realized by a Java application/applet. The web server transmits an applet to the clients. The CORBA middleware is for the transparent exchange of information between the clients and management information base servers. The management information base servers manage the information of respective management areas of the networks.
