PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional menu display setting method that has increased job load of a system manager, in the case that the system manager sets menu display for all portable information terminals used in an enterprise cordless system in companies or the like, because the system manager often sets the menu display for all the terminals. SOLUTION: When the portable information terminal 12 applies a position registration operation to a switch 11, the switch 11 informs the portable information terminal 12 about a menu display setting value in a call area A, at which the portable information terminal 12 is located. The portable information terminal 12 stores in advance a default of the menu display setting value to its built-in memory 13. Upon the receipt of the menu display setting value from the switch 11 via a base station, the portable information terminal 12 rewrites the default values of the menu display setting value stored in the memory 13 into the received menu display setting value. The portable information terminal 12 decides one or two functions or more to be displayed, in accordance with the menu display setting value stored in the memory 13.
