PURPOSE: 1-benzyl-4,5-dicarbonyl-1,2,3-triazole derivatives which have improved herbicidal activity and a preparation process thereof. CONSTITUTION: 1-benzyl-4,5-dicarbonyl-1,2,3-triazole derivatives are represented by the formula(I), wherein R is C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, C1-C4 alkoxyphenyl, cyano, C3-C6 cycloalkyl, tetrahydrofuryl, C1-C4 alkoxyalkyl substituted or unsubstituted C1-C6 alkyl, C2-C3 alkenyl, benzyl, C3-C6 cycloalkyl, or halogen, C1-C4 alkyl, nitro substituted or unsubstituted phenyl; X is halogen, cyano, nitro, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C2 haloalkyl or C1-C4 alkoxy; and n is an integer of 0 to 5. A process for preparing 1-benzyl-4,5-dicarbonyl-1,2,3-triazole derivatives of the formula(I) comprises reacting a compound of the formula(II) with amine compound of the formula(III) in a solvent in the presence of a coupling agent and base, wherein the solvent is selected from tetrahydrofuran, diethylether, dichloromethane, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, benzene and toluene; the coupling agent is phosgene, diphosgene or triphosgene; the base is triethylamine or pyridine; and the reaction temperature is 0 to 65 deg. C.
