A vehicle door (1) or tailgate has a first traction part (4.1) fastened to it, to open it when operated. The traction parts may be operated directly from inside the vehicle, or indirectly from outside via a second traction element (4.2) located outside the vehicle. The first traction elements extend along the vehicle body, and engage on door hinge (3) and/or door lock to unlock these. The traction elements extend over an energy-absorbent device, which is triggered during a crash at the same time as an airbag is inflated.
