The connection is provided by two connector elements (5, 6) which fit one above the other in the grooves along the side edges of the plates whereby the grooves align flush with each other when the plates are placed side by side. The connectors each have on one side detent locking means to lock the connectors together and on the other side securing means (7) which secure the connector elements against sliding transversely. The securing means can be projections engaging in indentations provided in the grooves.
