The method comprises the following steps : (a) identifying a customer through an intermediary via an identification means ; (b) using the intermediary to retrieve data related to the identified customer from a database ; (c) establishing a revaluing proposal on the basis of the retrieved information ; (d) supplying the proposal to the customer and a bank authority ; (e) receiving an agreement statement from the bank authority via the intermediary ; and (f) revaluing the customer's bank balance in accordance with the accepted proposal. An independent claim is also included for a bank account management system comprising a central computer system with a database containing customer and balance information, client terminals connected to the central computer system and provided with a means for reading a customer identification and a bank computer system in communication with the central computer system.
