Fabric product assembled and sewn under computer control in a correct sequence, monitored by a scanner

In a cloth or upholstery manufacturing process a computer-supported sewing machine manages the sequence of operations in which a series of fabric tabs are sewn onto a main section. The tab to be sewn next is identified to the computer by a code number which is displayed on a monitor. The sewing machine is only cleared for operation after the component is correctly positioned on the main section. An Independent claim is also included for a sewing machine work station with a first sensor which scans the main sections and tabs for identification to the computer. The work station has a second sensor to scan position markings on the main section. Each fabric tab or panel is identified by a barcode label.
