PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new antimicrobial phenylamidine derivatives and antimicrobial compositions containing them, as well as a method for controlling fungi, comprising a step to use them. SOLUTION: The new antimicrobial phenylamidine derivatives are antimicrobial compounds (for example, N-methyl-N'-methyl-[4-(3-tert- butylphenoxy)-2,5-xylyl]formamidine) shown by general formula I, and their salts.
