PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microprocessor-controlled gas meter equipped with a motorized shutoff valve mechanism capable of surely checking the opening/ closing motion of the shutoff valve, with the motor for driving the shutoff valve having low electricity consumption. SOLUTION: This microprocessor-controlled gas meter 1 is equipped with the motorized shutoff valve mechanism 8 comprising the shutoff valve 9 and the motor 10 as a shutoff mechanism for a gas inlet passage 5. When the shutoff valve 9 is opened/closed, a motor driving frequency is calculated by a driving frequency control part 24 based on a detected gas inlet passage side pressure Pin, and the motor 10 is driven with the driving frequency via a motor driver 22. Since this can suppress useless electricity consumption owing to an excessive motor driving force for driving the shutoff valve 9, the useful life of a battery 26 can be prolonged. The motion of the shutoff valve 9 is checked by a motion check part 25 based on the pressure Pin and a gas outlet passage side pressure Pout, or a differential pressure between them.
