PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the required number of times for replacing an ink cartridge while suppressing useless discarding of ink incident to replacement. SOLUTION: When a first ink of light cyan becomes near empty, a decision is made whether a second ink of cyan having a different gray level and belonging to a color group of the same system can be used in combination or not. If it can be used in combination, the cyan ink is used in combination with the light cyan ink. Furthermore, a decision is made whether the light cyan ink can be replaced by a cyan ink or not when the light cyan ink became empty, and the cyan ink is used in place of the light cyan ink if possible. |
