PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coupling surely releasable after a tension procedure. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the coupling for a belt retractor having a belt tensioner. The coupling can be driven by the belt tensioner 5, and has a hub 10 having several contact surfaces 40. The coupling has several clamp rollers 24 arranged in the hub so as to be pressed inside in the radial direction by the contact surfaces, and a shaft 9 joinable to the hub 10 by the clamp rollers 24. The coupling is characterized by arranging at least one return element 16 for pressing the clamp rollers 24 to a position for releasing engagement with the shaft 9.
