PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a fluctuating component from a detected particle signal. SOLUTION: The flow cytometer is provided with a sheath flow cell in which sample liquid containing particles is sheathed in sheath liquid to form a sample flow, a light source projecting light onto the sample flow, a detecting section that detects the intensity of the light from the particle contained in the sample flow to convert it to electrical signals, an analyzing section that analyzes the feature of the particle on the basis of the shape of waveform of the electric signal outputted from the detecting section, and a signal processing section that processes the electric signal outputted from the detecting section beforehand to input it into the analyzing section. The signal processing section, which includes a fluctuation judging section that judges the fluctuation of the signal on the basis of the time variation of the signal level outputted from the detecting section, a fluctuating component forming section that forms the fluctuating component of the signal on the basis of the judgement resulted by the fluctuation judging section, and a subtraction section that subtracts the fluctuating component from the signal outputted from the detecting section, inputs the subtracted signal into the analyzing section.
